DJ Zeph:
Self-titled release from San Francisco-based DJ Zeph. A Santa Cruz native, Zeph's disc blends hip-hop, electronica and live performance, incorporating guests like DJ Quest, Ron E. Beck (Tower Of Power), Azeem (Spearhead, Garage Opera), Jon Birdsong (Beck's band), and others. Combining down tempo, soul jazz, and hiphop flavors, Zeph extracts and inserts a turntablistic montage with feel and emotion. Zeph is a talented musician that truly uses the turntable as an instrument to great effect. DJ Zeph stands out even among the cream of the Bay Area djs. He pushes the creative envelope in all aspects of DJing -- mixing, scratching, selection, digging, timing -- as well as in producing tracks. His production stands out in its creative sampling and dope composition. He produced L'Roneous' Imaginarium album and two songs on Azeem's Craft Classic.
